In approval of its 2019 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress, AAC, encouraged its supporters to storm the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Sowore had called for a revolution over the present federal government’s supposed failure.
The Department of State Services, DSS, had arrested the presidential candidate for the 2019 AAC following the call for revolution.
Despite the arrest of Sowore, the protest took place in pockets of places.
Sowore, who is Saharareporters ‘ publisher, will appear in court on Tuesday to face the Nigerian government’s seven-count charge against him.
However, Comrade Oshioks, AAC National Organizing Secretary, clarified that calling for leaders and supporters to storm the tribunal would send a powerful signal to the government for violating Sowore’s right.
In a declaration he signed and sent to all AAC participants, Oshioks said, “We are all anticipated to be bringing our domestic leader, Sowore, to his court hearing at the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on days.
“The solidarity from us will send the right message to those who have trampled on his fundamental human rights for the past 52 days and counting.
“It will let the Nigerian Government know that the people know Sowore as a man different from the allegations cooked up against him.
“Comrades, we are all encouraged to kindly attend these proceedings in solidarity. We should be in court as early as 8:00am daily.”
