Court sentences Orji Kalu to 12 years in jail – N7.65bn fraud

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced Orji Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of 39 counts of N7.2 billion fraud and money laundering.


Throughout his time as governor, Kalu was charged along with Jones Udeogo, the state commissioner for finance.

The business of Kalu, Slok Nig. Ltd., in the suit, was also a defendant.

While Kalu and his company were found guilty of 34 charges on all 39 counts of the fraud charge, Udeogo was found guilty.Ruling, for N7.65 billion fraud, Justice Mohammed Idris sentenced Orji Kalu to 12 years in prison.

The Slok Nig was also ordered by the court. Ltd. That’s it. Should be injured and the Federal Government confiscated the assets
