For ministers, others, Buhari suspends international travel

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered all cabinet members and heads of government agencies to immediately suspend international travel.

This is to allow ministers to personally lead the National Assembly’s budget defense process.

According to a statement by the Information Director, Willie Bassey, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the suspension of such travels will allow executive arm officials and agencies to provide the necessary cooperation with the legislature to ensure the timely passage of the Appropriation Bill.

The statement reads, “Honorable ministers who have already received travel approval are required by this directive to revalidate these approvals with Mr. President after reviewing the appearance schedule with the National Assembly’s appropriate committees.

“In addition, it was directed to all ministries, departments and agencies to liaise with the appropriate National Assembly committees for their budget protection schedules.”
