Insurgents battle Nigerian troops after visiting Borno by federal lawmakers

Terrorists carried out twin attacks in a community of Borno as members of the Joint Army Committee of the National Assembly came on a visit to find out the truth.

The insurgents on Thursday, firing sporadically, stormed Gubio city at about 5:30 p.m.

The terrorists were repelled after about an hour of gunfire exchange between the troops and the attackers, according to a top military source, that verified the attacks.

If there were any injuries, it was not immediately clear.

The insurgents have recently attacked Gubio, some 84 kilometers north of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno.

Likewise, a group of terrorists assaulted the general area of the Dalori IDP camp on Thursday night, resulting in intermittent shootings.

At about 7 p.m., the attackers came attempting to force their way into the camp before a gunfire exchange took place.

It was also verified by the top military officer that the troops could repel the attacks.

The delegation of the National Assembly led by its committee chairmen in both the chambers of the Senate and the House of Representatives, Senator Ali Ndume and Honorable Abdulrazak Namdas had a guided tour of some military locations before a meeting on Thursday at the headquarters of the Lafiya Dole Theater Command Operations in Maiduguri.
