The bandits killed the driver and critically injured the other vehicle staff
A statement issued by Corps Public Education Officer Bisi Kazeem on Saturday revealed that after Zariagi on Lokoja–Okene road, the two staff were ambushed by the gunmen.
He said the incident took place in Oshawa, a town near Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State.
Kazeem said: “The kidnappers were said to have opened fire on the sighting of the marked car, according to the first report of data, and unfortunately shot the driver in the head, killing him immediately.
“The vehicle subsequently lost control and veered off the road.
He said the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, had expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased driver, the entire staff of the Corps and Nigeria on the death of the officer who lost his life in active service.
The spokesman said the incident has since been reported to the police for immediate investigation. (NAN)
