Simon Achuba, former Deputy Governor of Kogi, under house arrest

Kogi State’s impeached Deputy Governor Elder Simon Achuba is under house arrest at the moment.

Numbers of security men and fully armed, stormed his residence in Lokoja, thereby preventing him from leaving or allowing anyone to enter.

According to reports, this development has caused panic in the region of the former deputy governor.

On Friday the Deputy Governor was impeached by the Kogi State House of Assembly for suspected gross misconduct.

Elder Achuba confirmed this on Friday night when he featured on ‘ Democracy Today ‘ broadcast on Africa Independent
Television, AIT, and our correspondent in Lokoja was monitoring it.

His words” As I speak to you, I am under house arrest. My security aide has been withdrawn. Currently in my house, security operatives from government house have taken over my residence. Nobody can come in and no body can go out.”

Nevertheless, as an exercise in futility, Achuba described his alleged removal as Kogi State Deputy Governor and could not stand.

According to him, Nigeria is not a banana republic, so the behavior shown by the assembly’s Kogi State House is a violation of democracy and would not stand.

At the time of filing this report, attempts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer proved to be abortive.
