A suspected kidnapper has been apprehended by Kano State police in Soro Daya village, Tsanyawa Local Government Area.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Tuesday that a resident complained on September 1, 2021, that he was approached on the phone and told to pay N1m or risk being abducted with his children.
“Upon receiving the report, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko, formed and instructed a team of detectives, commanded by SP Shehu Dahiru, to track down and apprehend the perpetrator.
“The team sprung into action right away. The team traced and detained the culprit, Tukur Ahmad, 28 years old, 24 days after the report, based on solid intelligence and continued follow-ups,” Haruna said.
During the preliminary investigation, the suspect admitted to being a relative of the complainant and that he had contacted him.
The suspect would be charged at the conclusion of the inquiry, according to a police official.
