Emergence of President Tinubu’s Meeting with NLNG Board Revealed

A detailed account of the interaction between President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited has come to light. The rendezvous took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

As reported by ONIFTV, on a recent Friday, President Tinubu engaged in discussions with the NLNG board and management, a delegation led by Edmund Daukuru, the King of Nembe Kingdom and Board Chairman, along with Philip Mshelbila, the Managing Director of the company.

According to a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Spokesman, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the nation’s blueprint for transitioning to gas. He expressed the intention to capitalize on Nigeria’s substantial gas resources by fostering their domestic use, processing, and global export as part of a transitional energy source.

President Tinubu pledged to promptly eliminate hurdles, particularly in the oil and gas domain, to open up new prospects for local enterprises and international collaborators. He conveyed, “Our approach is rooted in collaboration, both in conception and implementation. Together with our partners, we will reshape the trajectory of our economic future.”

He emphasized the strategy’s goal of broadening opportunities for the populace, stating, “The objective is to expand the economic pie, ensuring tangible benefits for all Nigerians. By nurturing skills and providing employment, we aim to offer direction and prosperity to the restless youth demographic.”

In his own comments, Daukuru addressed the concerns of non-government stakeholders who have encountered challenges during operations. He highlighted the importance of communal participation in mitigating issues, and stressed the significance of managing trust between investors and host communities, advocating for a comprehensive approach to the entire process.

Adding to the discourse, Mshelbila commended the president for instigating proactive and bold long-term reforms that hold the potential to swiftly transform Nigeria’s economic landscape.

This meeting signified a pivotal step towards aligning Nigeria’s economic growth with sustainable energy practices, echoing the government’s commitment to fostering cooperation and inclusivity across sectors.
