Ten (10 ) members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) will travel to India on Sunday to participate in a Youth Exchange Programme.

The programme is an annual event to commemorate the Independence Anniversary of the Republic of India, which is organised by the Indian National Cadet Corps.

NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, announced made this known in a signed statement made available to the press on Saturday.

Already there had been a pre-departure briefing at the Indian High Commission in Abuja where the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Y. D. Ahmed addressed corps members that were selected for the trip.

Brigadier General Ahmed expressed his appreciation to the Indian government for extending the invitation to the NYSC, whose members will participate alongside other participants drawn from Europe, Asia, Africa and other continents.

The DG said the invitation was the second in a series and will avail the corps members the opportunity: “to showcase the potential of the Nigerian youths while also giving participants the opportunity to understand the socio-economic similarities and differences between the two countries.”

“The ideas the Nigerian delegation would gain at the programme especially from the Indian National Cadet Corps, would be applied to improve the NYSC programmes.”

Indian High Commissioner in Nigeria, Shri Balasubramanian said Nigeria and India share several things in common like huge populations and multi-cultural settings.

He explained the contributions of the scheme to the development of Nigeria while revealing that those selected to participate in the Youth Exchange Programme will have memorable and impactful experiences while on the programme.
