Arsenal secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in an intense English Premier League encounter. The decisive moment arrived when Eddie Nketiah was brought down by Sam Johnstone in the penalty area, following a swift free kick taken by Gabriel Martinelli. Martin Odegaard calmly converted the ensuing penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and putting Arsenal ahead.

Throughout the match, Mikel Arteta’s team-maintained control and appeared comfortable in their gameplay. However, their situation changed when left-back Takehiro Tomiyasu received a red card after accumulating two yellow cards.

The first yellow card was shown due to a delay in taking a throw-in, while the second was somewhat contentious, resulting from a minor foul on Jordan Ayew in midfield.

As the game neared its conclusion, Crystal Palace intensified their efforts, putting Arsenal’s defense under pressure. In injury time, Tyrick Mitchell had a promising opportunity but sent his shot over the goal. Despite this late push, Arsenal held firm and deservedly secured the victory. Notably, Eddie Nketiah had hit the post in the first half, adding to Arsenal’s attacking threat.

With this win, Arsenal joined Brighton and Manchester City at the top of the league table, each team accumulating six points from two matches. On the other hand, Crystal Palace was unable to capitalize on their opening-day victory against Sheffield United and missed the chance to add to their points tally.
