Napoli’s Serie A title defence hopes suffered another setback on Sunday, as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw away to Bologna.

The Partenopei went into the game on the back of just one point from their last two league matches. But despite dominating for large periods, they failed to make the breakthrough at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, missed a penalty midway through the second half after Riccardo Calafiori’s handball in the box. It proved a decisive moment as Osimhen blasted his spot-kick wide of the target.

Bologna keeper, Lukasz Skorupski, also produced some fine saves to keep Napoli at bay, denying efforts from Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giacomo Raspadori, among others.

In the end, Napoli boss, Rudi Garcia, was left ruing missed chances as his side lost further ground in the title race. The draw leaves the Partenopei seven points behind leaders, Inter Milan, having played a game more.
