President Bola Tinubu’s removal of fuel subsidies on May 29 has prompted Nigerians to embrace innovation in finding alternative methods to power their generators. People have converted their generators from petrol to affordable and more environmentally friendly fuels, such as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). This conversion reduces carbon emissions and saves individuals money on transportation costs. However, there are safety concerns, as improper handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leaks could result in explosions. Experts emphasize the need for government guidance and education regarding the use of gasoline as a generator fuel. In the meantime, some voices advocate for the use of solar energy and urge the government to resolve the difficulties in the power sector.
